Wispr Flow Pricing: Is Pro Worth $144 a Year?

Wispr Flow Pricing: Is Pro Worth $144 a Year?

Wispr Flow costs $0 on the Free plan, $15 per user a month for Pro, or $12 billed annually ($144 a year). Growth costs $23 a month, or $33 with unlimited Notetaker ($18 and $26 billed annually). Enterprise is custom. Free caps dictation at 2,000 words a week on desktop and 1,000 on mobile.

I posted on LinkedIn on October 13, 2026 that Claude replaced three of our SaaS tools in two days, with Calendly next. Wispr Flow was the second. Before we switched, I pulled my own Wispr history: 264,844 words in 23 weeks of active use. So this guide gives you the official prices, read today, and real usage data to pick a plan.

Wispr Flow Pricing in 2026: What Does Each Plan Cost?

Wispr Flow has four plans: Free, Pro, Growth and Enterprise. Annual billing saves 20% on Pro and Growth. The table shows the prices on the official pricing page, which I read on October 13, 2026.

Wispr Flow plans and prices in USD, from wisprflow.ai/pricing, read October 13, 2026
PlanMonthly billingAnnual billingDictation limitWhat it adds
Free$0$02,000 words a week on desktop, 1,000 on mobileDictation in any app, dictionary and snippets, limited Notetaker
Pro$15 per user$12 per user ($144 a year)UnlimitedShared dictionary, team workspace, central billing, priority support
Growth$23 per user, $33 with Notetaker$18 per user, $26 with NotetakerUnlimitedSSO with SAML, org-wide HIPAA enforcement, admin controls
EnterpriseCustomCustomUnlimitedSCIM, audit logs, MDM, models never trained on your data

Two details are easy to miss. Pro is sold as a team plan too, with no minimum seats. And the Growth price depends on Notetaker, Wispr's meeting recorder: $23 covers dictation only, $33 adds unlimited Notetaker.

If you are pricing your whole AI stack, my guide to Claude pricing covers the plan most teams pay for next.

Is Wispr Flow Free?

Yes. Free costs $0 a month, and Wispr says you never need a credit card to start. It includes dictation on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, more than 100 languages, a dictionary that learns your names and jargon, and a limited Notetaker. The catch is the weekly cap: 2,000 words on desktop and 1,000 on mobile.

Older reviews mention a 14-day Pro trial. On October 13, 2026 the official pricing page did not show one, so check at signup.

The Notetaker on Free has a weekly meeting limit. Wispr says quick recordings under five minutes do not count toward it, and the limit resets every week. Pro raises the meeting limit and keeps notes for longer.

There are discounts too. Students and educators with an education email get 50% off Pro. I work that out at $6 a month on annual billing, since Wispr does not list the discounted price. Wispr also offers discounted Pro to nonprofit organizations, without a public price.

Is 2,000 Words a Week Enough? My Real Usage Data

For a founder who dictates seriously, it is too little. My Wispr Flow history on this Mac runs from April 20 to October 7, 2026, and the app's local database keeps every dictation. I counted them before we switched. In 21 of 23 weeks of active use, I wrote more than the free cap.

My Wispr Flow usage, counted from the app's local history on October 13, 2026 (one user, Mac)
MetricValue
PeriodApril 20 to October 7, 2026 (23 weeks of active use)
Dictations with text12,415
Words dictated264,844
Average words per dictation21
Average words per full week11,513
Busiest week29,067 words
Quietest full week1,269 words
Weeks above 2,000 words21 of 23

At 21 words per dictation, the free cap is about 95 dictations a week. That is roughly 19 per working day. If you answer emails, Slack and chats by voice, you burn that by Tuesday. If you dictate a few notes a day, Free is enough.

My busiest weeks, from late May to July, ran from 20,000 to 29,000 words. The peak was more than 14 times the free cap. In those weeks, Pro at $12 a month cost me 10 to 14 cents per 1,000 words.

Wispr Flow Pro vs Growth: Which Plan Do You Need?

Pick Pro unless your security team asks for single sign-on or org-wide HIPAA enforcement. Wispr says HIPAA-ready dictation with a signed BAA is available on every plan, and it turns off Notetaker on BAA accounts. Pro already covers teams, with a shared dictionary, a shared workspace, central billing and basic usage dashboards. Growth adds SAML sign-on, org-wide HIPAA enforcement with a signed BAA, multiple domains and admin control over model training.

Which Wispr Flow plan fits which buyer (my judgment, prices from wisprflow.ai/pricing on October 13, 2026)
You arePlanAnnual cost per person
Writing a few notes a dayFree$0
Student or teacherPro with the education discount$72
Founder or salesperson who dictates dailyPro$144
Team that needs SSO or enforced HIPAAGrowth$216, or $312 with Notetaker
Company that needs SCIM, audit logs or MDMEnterpriseAsk sales

For a ten-person sales team on annual billing, that is $1,440 a year on Pro or $2,160 on Growth without Notetaker. The $720 gap buys SSO and enforced HIPAA, so pay it only when security requires them.

Wispr is running a team offer this month. On its pricing page, teams that choose dictation only can turn on full Notetaker access free through October 31, 2026. After that, members move to a limited plan, and the price does not increase automatically. Notetaker runs on Mac and Windows only.

Is Wispr Flow Pro Worth $144 a Year?

If you dictate more than 2,000 words a week, yes, almost always. At $12 a month, Pro pays for itself if it saves you about ten minutes a month at a $72 hourly rate. Anyone who passes the cap every week saves far more than that. Pay monthly while you test the habit, then switch to annual once you pass the cap every week. It saves $36 a year.

Wispr Flow worked well for me for almost four months. Then I hit a problem that has nothing to do with price. On August 12, 2026, a Wispr Flow auto-update doubled every key I pressed on my Mac, typed or dictated, until I quit the app. One update, and my whole keyboard was out of my hands.

My data shows the change. I averaged about 28,000 words a week in July. After August 12, I never passed 4,500 again. Price was never my problem. Control was. I used Wispr about 70 times a day, and one update took my keyboard.

Can You Build Your Own Wispr Flow Alternative With Claude?

Yes, if you work on a Mac and only need dictation. On October 7, 2026, we described what we wanted to Claude, and Claude built Detta, our menu bar dictation app, the same day. Nobody on the team wrote a line of code. It has been my only dictation app since.

Detta runs NVIDIA's Parakeet speech model locally on the Mac, through the open-source FluidAudio library. The audio never leaves the computer, and transcription works offline. Only the text of long dictations goes to Claude for cleanup. To pick the model, we replayed 265 real dictations from my Wispr history, with their audio, through four engines and compared the transcripts.

Word error rate on 265 of my Italian dictations from the Wispr Flow history, lower is better (our test, October 7, 2026)
EngineWord error rate
NVIDIA Parakeet (chosen)6.7%
Apple speech recognition8.1%
OpenAI Whisper turbo8.5%
Cohere9.6%

Parakeet was also the fastest, with a median of 0.06 seconds to transcribe a dictation. Read this test for what it is: one person, one language, my own voice. It shows which engine fits my voice. Yours may differ, so run your own audio before you choose.

What we gave up is just as real. Detta has no Windows or Android app, and the iPhone keyboard is still in progress. It also lacks a meeting Notetaker, a shared team dictionary and a support line. If your team needs any of those, Wispr Flow is the cheaper path.

Wispr Flow Alternatives: When Should You Not Pay?

Skip Wispr Flow if you dictate under 2,000 words a week, or if free built-in dictation is good enough. Pay for Pro if you dictate daily across devices. Build your own only if you are on one platform and already use Claude Code.

  1. Count your words. Use Free for one normal week and look at the counter.
  2. Stay on Free if you are under 2,000 words a week.
  3. Try Apple Dictation on a Mac or Voice Typing (Windows key + H) on Windows before you pay. Both are free.
  4. Buy Pro if you pass the cap every week, and switch to annual once the habit sticks. It saves 20%.
  5. Move to Growth only when security asks for SSO, enforced HIPAA or admin controls.
  6. Build your own if you are Mac-only, care where your audio goes and already pay for Claude.

One more rule from our side. Whatever you pick, keep a copy of your own data. My Wispr history is what let us test four engines in an afternoon. Without it, we would have chosen on marketing pages.
